Dr Werder was born in Detroit, where he remained through high school. He then studied at Syracuse University in New York, where he earned a degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2000. Dr Werder went on to attend St Christopher’s College of Medicine in England, where he earned his medical doctorate in 2006. After returning to Detroit, Dr Werder finished his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Beaumont Hospital in 2011. Rounding out his subspecialist medical training, Dr Werder pursued a fellowship in Vascular/Interventional Radiology at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC, which he completed in 2012.

Dr Werder is board certified by the American Board of Radiology. He was a professor of Radiology at Marshall University School of Medicine until 2013, following which he became a professor of Radiology at Eastern Virginia Medical School until 2017. Dr Werder has presented research to the Society of Interventional Radiology multiple times, as well as to numerous other professional organizations and medical societies. His work has also been published in a variety of peer-reviewed scientific journals. Dr Werder’s areas of expertise include dialysis access (fistula, graft, catheter, HeRO), vascular pathology (venous insufficiency, peripheral arterial disease, lymphatic disorders), thromboembolic phenomenon (IVC filter placement/retrieval, thrombolysis, thrombectomy), pain management (kyphoplasty for spinal compression fracture, nerve blockade for migraine headache), and uterine fibroid embolization.

While in medical school, Dr Werder met and married a young woman from London, who put her aspirations of being an artist on hold to support the young couple through Dr Werder’s medical training. They now live in East Cobb, where Mrs Werder focuses on raising their three sons who are very active in athletics. Although Mrs Werder remains interested in artistic pursuits and Dr Werder’s hobbies include billiards and fantasy football, the couple spends most of their free time on the sidelines of youth athletic fields and chauffeuring their boys to and from various sporting events.
